The COMEBACKPACK
Get to know the Comeback Pack!

Konner
Konner initially became a foster dog in 2018. He had just been returned to the shelter for the second time, and had sat in the shelter for six months prior to being taken on by Comeback K9. At the time, Konner was considered a potentially dangerous dog with a bite history and a nasty resource guarder. He was fostered for nearly a year before another family expressed interest in adopting him. By then, he had a solid management plan in place and was doing really well. Unfortunately his third home was unable to maintain his plan, and he began to regress once again. Konner was returned to Comeback K9, and after another failed meet and greet, Konner officially joined the pack in 2020.

Reece
Reece predates Comeback K9. He's a little old man with big dog syndrome, and does a pretty good job helping keep the younger dogs in line. Is he well trained and highly obedient? Not exactly, but he does an excellent job holding down the couch, which is all that we ask of him in his senior years.

Roo
Roo was rescued from a neglectful situation in 2021. At the time she was 8 months old, and was taken on as a foster dog. She had been living in a garage with her mother and remaining littermate, and had received zero socialization throughout her early development. The first time she was brought out on a leash was a traumatic experience for her, and it took several days before being able to touch her once out of her original home. Roo has been, and always will be afraid of strangers and sudden noises. She was adopted for several months, but her needs proved to be too great for her second owner. She was returned to Comeback K9, and has been with us ever since. That being said, she is unrecognizable from the dog that was hauled out of the garage that first day.

Indie
Indie joined the Comeback Pack as a puppy in 2020, and up until recently the only dog that was sought out. With her, she opened a lot of doors in the training world for me. We did Rally Obedience, as well as AKC Scent Work and Tracking together. Indie was also my first Search and Rescue K9 partner, but due to an Idiopathic Epilepsy diagnosis, she sadly had to retire prematurely. That's okay, though! Indie was always meant to be a pet first and foremost. She is often times the go-to demo dog.

Ava
Ava is the newest Comeback Packmate. With Indie's early retirement from the Fire Department, a new search for a Search and Rescue prospect had begun. While Indie was a pet first, Ava is a working dog first- and a fantastic one at that. Ava is the youngest dog to team certify in the history of Osage Beach Search and Rescue. At 10 months old, she became field ready, and is due to get her national certification through NASAR in March 2025. She is insanely intelligent, and an astute problem solver. We are incredibly proud of this little girl, and we are confident she is destined for great things.
Alumni
Once a Comeback K9, always a Comeback K9. These dogs have all been fosters through Dogwood Animal Shelter, and with their adoption, their new families get free training support for life.
